Notes

I have taped at Jones Beach several times over the years. It can be
a very windy venue. Tonight was no exception. Unfortunately, I had no idea that
I might be going to this show. Therefore, I was not prepared, as I did not have
my "dead rats" for windscreens. I borrowed Jeff Frank's DPA windscreens. They
were a bit better than my tear drops, however, there is a great deal of presence
of wind on the recording. Better than nothing. Thanks to Todd for the clamp space!

Subject: nice
This was a fun show and I like the audience recording even if there is a little wind. Hey, it was a windy night! I was right behind the sound board up across the walk way tunnel thing. There were two empty rows and then us (or maybe we were back one row). Were you the guy taping at the end of my little row? Three guys involved one with a cool hat. Just curious.

Subject: Awesome
I think it's hard to compare outdoor shows to indoor shows energy wise; I find it's easier to recognize the energy at shows when they are played indoors. That being said, I thought this show was amazing. It was a laid back but very jammed out show, and the jams were interesting, not just long. Shows can be good for different reasons; MSG was good in a different way but I enjoyed this show a lot more. I would agree, however, that this past spring tour was hard to beat...

Zman... you have the critical ear of a seasoned taped, but the wind is not problem for me. I enjoyed the show and am enjoying listening to your recording. Thanks for the effort.

Subject: yes...better then msg...for me :)
I guess we gots different standards. I liked this show, had a good time. I was able to drink beer inside the show because i was in a VIP box. I had my own private bathroom and LOTS of room.
The wind hardly effected me and i was able to video %75 of the show with unobstructed views.
yeah, i liked this show better.
Just my opinion....and ya know what they say about opinions, right?

Subject: must be crazy.
to say this show was better than MSG or coney island is very wrong by my standards. There really wasn't much energy here. Bob seemed not too into it almost the entire show. but, that darkstar jam was nothing short of INCREDIBLE. it was so cool to see furthur get out of their comfort zone and really jam out. i feel that coney island had significantly more energy to it, as did MSG and vibes (as well as better setlists). The real standouts for me were let it grow, BEW, shakedown, and darkstar. Not saying it was a bad show or anything, it just seemed automatic and didn't take me to that place that other shows have.
oh what i would do for another spring tour
